﷯Carol Wyatt was born in Marshall, Texas, USA. She studied voice under Tina Piazza and graduated in music and singing from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. After graduation she continued her studies in Italy, the land of classical opera, with Maestro Tomaso Jappelli of La Scala in Milano, Italy. She made her debut at Teatro Massimo as AMNERIS in Aida. Following her debut she signed a two year contract with the Frankfurt Opera. Subsequently the Hamburg State Opera engaged her to sing numerous roles, including AMNERIS in Aida, AZUCENA in Il Trovatore, DORABELLA in Cosi fan tutte, EBOLI in Don Carlos, and MARINA MNISCHEK in Boris Godunov to name a few. She was a principal soloist with the Deutsche Oper Berlin for 20 years. Other guest performances took her to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as AMNERIS and AZUCENA. After her debut at the Vienna State Opera as EBOLI, she sang AMNERIS and EBOLI at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. At the Florence May Festival she sang FRIKA in the Ring Cycle conducted by Zubin Mehta. Carol has made numerous opera and concert appearances with orchestras across Europe: Belgrade, Dublin, Geneva, Madrid (Radio Televisione Espanola, VERDI REQUIEM, Conductor Igor Markewitch); Spoleto (Spoleto Festival, MOZART REQUIEM, Conductor Thomas Shippers). In North America Carol's performances include Cincinnati (Concert COUNT ORY, Conductor Thomas Shippers again); San Diego (AMNERIS, Director Tito Capobianco); New York (Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra with Zubin Mehta conducting). Portland and Toronto were further milestones in her career. In 1996 she made her soprano debut as LEONORE in Fidelio, performing it dozens of times in Germany. Other soprano roles included MARIE in Wozzeck (Production by Hans Neugebauer and Achim Freyer) and SANTUZZA in Cavalleria Rusticana. She has frequently performed contemporary parts such as FOLK SONGS by Luciano Berio with both the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. At the Berlin Philharmonic Carol was also the soloist in the world premiere for the JEREMIAH Symphony No. 1 by Leonard Bernstein; soloist in the world premier of Alfred Schnittke's FAUST-KANTATE conducted by Gennadi Roshdestwenski at the Vienna Festival and at the Helsinki Festival (concert and recording); and soprano soloist in Zemlinsky's LYRISCHE SYMPHONIE in Turin (concert and recording by the RAI). Modern operas include parts such as Dallapiccola's Volo di notte as La Signora FABIEN, Gottfried von Einem's Kabale und Liebe as LADY MILFORD, Wolfgang Rihm's Oedipus as JOCASTE, and Zimmermann's Soldaten as the COUNTESS de la ROCHE.
